37th ANNUAL WORLD PREMIERE COMPOSITION SERIES CONCERT: featuring the premieres of two new works by guest composers/conductors Peter and Will Anderson, performed by The University of Scranton Concert Band & Concert Choir

“Virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone” (New York Times), identical twins Peter and Will Anderson are extraordinary jazz woodwind performers and composers/arrangers. Graduates of The Juilliard School, they’ve performed with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Wycliffe Gordon, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Paquito D’Rivera, Wynton Marsalis, Frank Vignola, and can be heard on the 2014 Grammy-winning soundtrack of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.  They’ve headlined major jazz clubs throughout the country, have performed in over 40 U.S. states, throughout Brazil, Japan, the U.K., and six times in NYC’s famed Highlights in Jazz series, and have received numerous awards, ranging from a Drama Desk nomination to a Bistro Award. They are also members of the Kyle Athayde Dance Party. (peterandwillanderson.com)

The Andersons will compose two works - one for concert band and one for SATB choir, and the premieres of these  new works for Scranton will be performed by the university’s student ensembles, made up of University of Scranton student musicians from majors spanning the curriculum, with the Andersons conducting the premieres of their compositions.
