Faculty & Staff Development Workshop

This workshop will explore community-based learning as a critical pedagogy with a focus on three core elements, in alignment with our Jesuit mission: attention to social change, working to redistribute power, and fostering authentic community relationships. Dr. Tania D. Mitchell, associate professor of higher education at the University of Minnesota, will share best practices in service learning toward creating a more just community, including understanding the impact of race and class in community engagement, using reflective and dialogic teaching tools and strategies, and forming reciprocal community-based partnerships that foster authentic solidarity.
