Shakespeare Speaks To Us Today

Thursday, 20 June, 2013

Rosey Hay, Artistic Director, REV Theatre Company & Director of A COMEDY OF ERRORS.

Rudy Caporaso, Co-Artistic Director, REV Theatre Company

In this very early work of Shakespeare's that has been called "a perfect farce", he prefigures his later works by exploring themes that will appear over and over - loss (in many different ways), reconciliation and redemption, marital infidelity, the discovery of self through the completion of self, and mistaken identity.  Shakespeare also experiments with language and all its possibilities to create vivid and compelling characters and relationships and adds an extreme physical element to the play that brings to the fore the other essential theme of mistaken identity.
