U of S Players Present The 39 Steps

The University of Scranton Players will open their 2013-2014 season with The 39 Steps, based on the novel by John Buchan (the original concept of Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon) and adapted by Patrick Barlow. Broadway’s longest running comedy; this piece masterfully fuses a Hitchcock blockbuster with all the intrigue of a spy novel to create a captivating and hilarious production that will thoroughly entertain audiences through every twist and turn. The story follows Richard Hannay, a sad man caught up in the murder of an international spy, and the fast-paced course of events that sends him racing through Europe while trying to evade a mysterious and sinister organization.  A cast of 6 portrays over 150 colorful characters through this tale filled with murder, romance, and a death-defying finale that guarantees to leave audiences desperate for more.

 

Performances are on Friday, September 20 -Saturday, September 21, and Friday, September 27- Saturday, September 28 at 8:00 pm and on Sunday, September 22 and Sunday, September 29 beginning at 2:00 pm. All performances will take place at The University of Scranton’s Royal Theater in the McDade Center for Literary and Performing Arts.  Tickets are $10 for General Admission and $7 for Students, Faculty, Staff, and Senior Citizens.
