Sounds Like a Revolution - African American Women and the Freedom Songs of the 1960's

The Cultural Center are excited to bring to our campus: “Sounds Like a Revolution: African American Women and the Freedom Songs of the 1960's”tomorrow Tuesday, February 20th, 7:00PM, Brennan Hall, Rose Room 509. The Cultural Centers will host a presentation and conversation with Maureen Mahon, Associate Professor of Music at New York University about her book "Black Diamond Queens". The event will center in highlighting African American women have played a pivotal role in rock and roll from laying its foundations and singing chart-topping hits to influencing some of the genre's most iconic acts. Join the Cultural Centers as we discuss the story of music in relation to the Civil Rights Movement with a focus on women's contributions to the arts. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to RSVP to attend the event, follow this link to confirm your attendance.
