The Scranton Brass Seminar, June 20-24, 2016

Monday, 20 June, 2016

The Department of Performance Music will be holding the Scranton Brass Seminar beginning on June 20, 2016 and running through Friday, June 24, 2015.

The Scranton Brass Seminar is an intensive non-curricular one week summer seminar focusing on various elements of brass playing. Application for enrollment is open to senior high school, college and university, and adult amateur and professional brass players, as well as to instrumental music teachers.

Activities include masterclasses, clinics, special topics presentations, solo & improvisation coaching, small brass ensemble playing, and brass orchestra, as well as a final performance. Presenters and clinicians include experts in a variety of areas of brass playing and include not only nationally renowned brass players/teachers, but also conductors, accompanists, psychologists, and physicians with special expertise in working with musicians.

Music educators - whether or not they are advanced level brass players - are also welcome and invited to enroll, in service of meeting their needs for continuing education and professional development in the areas of brass instruction and performance.

Please contact us at music@scranton.edu to receive a mailed and/or electronic brochure and application materials for June 2016. Brochures for June 2016 will be available on April 1, 2016, and registration opens on April 10. No more than 20 participants will be accepted, and admission is on a rolling basis.

PLEASE NOTE: High school students may only attend as commuters, as no supervised room and board options are offered as part of the seminar for those under college age.
