On Tuesday, April 19, “Seeking Asian Females” (2012, 82 min.), a PBS award-winning documentary by Debbie Lum, will be shown. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Meghan Ashlin Rich, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology/criminal justice and women’s studies at the University.  “Seeking Asian Female” is the third and the last of the “Women in Asia: Traditions, Transformation, and Modernization” three-part film series.  The film highlights the upcoming Asian Pacific Heritage Month of May.  Eight framed large posters from the Smithsonian Museum tell the story of Asian immigrants in the United States will also be on display.  Endorsements of the film include:

             This film, which is shown free of charge and open to the public, will be screened at 7 p.m. in the Moskovitz Theater of the DeNaples Center.  Reception follows immediately.  

            After April 19's film screening, the eight framed large posters from the Smithsonian Museum will be on exhibit at the lobby area of the second floor of Loyola Science Center adjacent to the Asian Studies Office (LSC 211) until May 15.
