American Association of Physics Teachers Central PA Section Conference

The annual Spring Conference of the American Association of Physics Teachers - Central Pennsylvania Section (AAPT-CPS) will be held on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd, 2017 at The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  The conference attempts to bring together educators and students of all levels from across our region to discuss physics education.

The format of the event will be similar to previous years with a workshop, banquet dinner, keynote presentation, posters, presentations, and a business meeting.  New this year will be two invited presentations and student poster and presentation awards.  The conference announcement is attached containing a preliminary schedule, registration information, paper and poster abstract submission information, among other things.

A PTRA Workshop on Hands on Electricity Lessons for High School Physics will be held Friday, April 21st, from 8:00am until 3:00pm. Registration will be from 8:00 am until 8:30am, and the workshop will be held from 8:30am until 3:00 pm.

On Friday evening following registration, there will be a banquet dinner in conjunction with a poster session.  An open beer, wine, and soda bar will be available for all banquet dinner attendees from 5:00pm-6:30pm with the banquet dinner beginning at 6:00pm.  Following the dinner, a keynote presentation by plenary speaker Dr. Matthew Farrar of Messiah College will take place at 7:30pm and will be titled: Seeing Anew: How Advances in Microscopy are Changing the Life Sciences.

Saturday morning will begin with a continental breakfast at 8:00am followed by a day full of presentations by faculty and students from the CPS region.  Lunch will be on your own followed by the AAPT-CPS general business meeting. During the business meeting, elections will be held for officers.  Our day will end no later than 5:00pm.
