Ready to Run Northeast Pennsylvania
Saturday, 28 January, 2012
The University of Scranton, in partnership with the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) at Rutgers University, is hosting the first “Ready to Run Northeast Pennsylvania” program. Ready to Run Northeast Pennsylvania is a non-partisan program to encourage more women to participate in Pennsylvania politics and to train them to launch their own campaigns for political office. Embarrassingly, Pennsylvania has long been among the worst states in the nation when it comes to electing women to its local governments, its state legislature, and its congressional delegation.
As a person with power to facilitate change, you can help by enlisting women you know who have the interest and desire to serve the public good. Invite women you know"colleagues, friends, or family members"to take their first steps as potential candidates. Please encourage them to register and attend Ready to Run Northeast Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the University of Scranton.
Participants will leave the Ready to Run Program with
* How-to instructions on running for office
* Real-world advice and best practices from experts
* Strategies for positioning themselves for public leadership
* Internet strategies for campaigns
* A better understanding of Pennsylvania Politics
