Film viewing: Restrepo

A documentary shot on location in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley, one of the most dangerous postings in the US military. The film offers 90 minutes of non-stop war, without commentary from diplomats, politicians, or generals. Viewers experience war from soldiers’ perspectives.

Co-directed by Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger. Hetherington was killed in 2011 while covering the conflict in Libya. More information on the film can be found at http://restrepothemovie.com/

Discussion will be led by Prof. Erin Leach of Military Science. Capt. Leach served two tours in Afghanistan as an army helicopter pilot.
