Events Calendar

The Department of Economics and Finance, the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation, International Business Club, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Finance Club present a one-day event, "The Greek and European Crisis" on Tuesday, March 6. The program includes:

- An Informal Session with Faculty,  1:30 - 2:30 p.m., Brennan Hall, room 502
- Q&A Session with Students, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., Brennan Hall, room 228
- Keynote Speech and Panel Discussion, 7 - 9:15 p.m., DeNaples Center, room 407 (Open to the Public)

Participants

Herakles Polemarchakis, professor of economics at Warwick University, England, previously served as economic adviser for the Greek Socialist Party (when Mr. Papandreou was prime minister) from 2005-2008. He also served as the director for Centre for Planning and Economic Research in Greece from 1987-1988.

Laurence Kotlikoff, professor of economics at Boston University, served as a fellow in the Bank of England and held various positions as a visiting scholar and consultant in numerous international organizations and institutions such as IMF, World Bank, OECD, Bank of Italy, Bank of England, and the Swedish Ministry Finance.

Giorgios Chortareas, professor of macroeconomics at University of Athens, currently serves as a member of the Council of Economic Advisors, Ministry of Finance. He previously served as a member of the Bank of England’s team of research specialists on EMU from 1999-2003, was a visiting scholar at ECB, Fed of NY and a consultant at the United Nations.

John P. Blake, senator of Pennsylvania’s 22^nd Senate District, previously served as executive deputy secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Economics and Finance at The University of Scranton.
