Exhibit- 'The Visiting Nurse Association of Scranton -One Hundred Years'

Other Dates For This Event:

Monday, 16 April, 2012

In 1895, today’s Visiting Nurses Association of Lackawanna County began as a public nursing service sponsored by the Associated Charities and Human Society of Lackawanna County.  Generous women subsequently supplied funding to establish District Nursing in Scranton under the leadership of Ethel Boies, and the agency was later nested philanthropic organizations including the Associated Charities, City Improvement Association, and The Century Club of Scranton. In 1912, the District Nursing Association was chartered to work independently and has done so ever since.  Known as the Visiting Nurses Association since 1926, the agency continues to bring “relief and comfort to the sick and helpless of our city at a time when they need it most.”

Gallery Hours: Sunday through Friday noon to 4 p.m. and Wednesday evenings 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
