Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration

Join the celebration, Saturday, Oct. 29th, as the Multicultural Center in partnership with the Office of Campus Ministries, hosts their annual celebration of the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the DeNaples Center 1st floor.

El Dia de Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) is a Mexican celebration observed throughout Latin America to celebrate, remember, and prepare special foods in honor of those who have departed. We will celebrate with activities tables featuring sugar skulls and bag decorating, face/hand painting, traditional food, music and an interfaith service commemorating the cultural significance of the celebration.

Featured this year is a table sit from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28th from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in DeNaples 2nd floor. We have will have informational boards about the cultural significance of Dia de los Muertos, as well as space to write an intention or name of a loved one for the Ofrenda (altar) and prayer service, for whom a candle will be “lit.”

At our celebration from 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. in the DeNaples Center 1st floor, we will feature activities tables with Sugar Skull & Bag decorating, face/hand painting, music and traditional food.
