Annual MLK Community Celebration Dinner

The University Offices of Equity and Diversity and Community and Government Relations are sponsoring two tables for University faculty, staff and students to attend the dinner free of charge. Please contact jennifer.pennington@scranton.edu if you are interested in attending the dinner. You may bring a guest if seating is available. Seats are first come first served. The Greater Scranton MLK Commission will host the Annual Community Celebration and Awards Dinner on Sunday, January 14, 2024 beginning promptly at 2:00p.m. in the McIlhenny Ballroom, DeNaples Center 4th floor.
The theme for 2024 is 'Still I Rise'.

The keynote 'Where do we go from here?' will be presented by SARA E. SOLFANELLI, Esq., Special Counsel for Pro Bono Initiatives at Schulte Roth & Zabel.
Solfanelli oversees the firm's robust pro bono program, where she leverages the firm's resources to represent indigent individuals seeking justice, bring impact litigation for a more just and fair society, and develop strategic partnerships with international, national and local nonprofit organizations to enable them to better achieve their missions.
Solfanelli's passion to protect the rights of the underserved has guided her career. She helped start and has been instrumental in the success of Foundation Rwanda, which has funded the education of more than 830 children born from sexual assaults during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Sara is also on the board of Stand Up! Girls and Community Resource Exchange and volunteers her time to mentor the next generation of advocates and change-makers.
