“Exploring Poetry (Taylor’s Version)" with Jen McLaughlin
In this workshop, we’ll explore poetry and song through the lens of the one and only Taylor Swift. Taylor writes with all of the foundational elements of creative writing, but she does it through song and poetry. As such, we’ll dive into her work and assess her use of grief through death by a thousand cuts, we'll reach deep into those moments of isolation and despair that can make you feel like you’re stuck in a forever winter, and we'll do our best to find a place in this worldeven though it may sometimes seem like you’re on your own, kid. We’ll do all of this (and more!) by analyzing Taylor’s work in groups, examining her themes, and writing our own creative works.
This workshop, sponsored by the Slattery Center, is free of charge and is open to all University of Scranton students. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack will be provided.
Space is limited, so register soon! Email sarah.kenehan@scranton.edu
