Sr. Carol Tropiano Farewell Reception

Monday, 14 May, 2012

Friends:

It is with mixed feelings that we in the Mission and Ministry offices invite you to a reception for our Sr. Carol. We are happy that she has found a place with her Sisters of Mercy in their mission of hospital ministry in Savannah, GA, and that she will no longer need to brave Scranton winters, but we hate to see her go.  In her years here at the University of Scranton, she has graced us with her presence as a woman religious and has been among us a living symbol of all the Sisters who have served the church so selflessly, creatively and generously in the decades since Vatican II.

Among the many tasks she has undertaken, here are some highlights.  She has greatly enriched us with her deeply spiritual presence and has guided and mentored scores of students through her ministry as a spiritual director.  Her leadership has been instrumental in building up our Christian Life Communities (over a dozen on Campus), and she initiated the student led weekly practice of the Examen.  Maybe most importantly, She took the lead in organizing our twice yearly Ignatian silent retreats for students.

We bid her a fond farewell  and ask God’s blessings in her future ministries as she heads to the heat of Georgia!

Please join us for a reception in Sr. Carol’s honor 3 to 4:30 p.m., May 14, 2012, DeNaples Center, room 405. We hope to see you there. Come and says thanks to Sr. Carol.

Peace,

Fr. Rick

P.S.  Please forward this to all who know Sr. Carol and would like to say goodbye.  You young folks, facebook and twitter the invite to the reception!
