Social Media User Group Meeting

Do you work on social media for a University department, club or organization? If so, join us for the next campus social media user group (SMUG) meeting which will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 9 a.m., in the Casey Conference room, fifth floor Brennan Hall.

SMUG, which hosted its inaugural meeting in March, gathers together site adminstrators from the various departments and clubs on campus that are using social media to engage with their audiences. Faculty, staff and students using social media platforms for on-campus initiatives are encouraged to attend.

The agenda for the April 3 meeting includes a review of recent social media news and a presentation by Mike Baumhardt, assistant director of the Center for Student Engagement, and Peter Portanova, USPB executive chair, on the topic of social media management focused primarily on the tool they use, Hootsuite.

Hootsuite can be used to manage multiple social networks including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, Flickr and more. Features include scheduling messages and tweets, tracking brand mentions and analyzing social media traffic.
