Scranton Day of Service Pittsburgh: Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank
Monday, 25 March, 2013
Produce to people distribution in Homewood. Volunteers are needed to help us unload product from trucks, set up the distribution line, distribute items to the recipients and help elderly individuals carry their groceries and then clean up the site. It is a volunteer experience that you won't want to miss.
Location: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Homewood-Brushton YMCA, 7140 Bennett S, Pittsburgh, PA
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank distributes fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as other grocery items, at our weekly P2P distributions. By attending a direct distribution, you will experience a powerful, introspective glimpse into the food insecurity that exists in our very own Pittsburgh communities. This eye-opening volunteer experience places volunteers in a rewarding position as they spend the morning helping the Food Bank directly fight hunger. Together we will distribute (between 20 K and 30 K) of food directly to families in need. There will be between 450 to 750 families
Miscellaneous Information: Volunteers need to be age 12 or older and all volunteers need to come dressed to work.
