Spring Henry George Seminar: Market Exclusion of Poor Farmers in West Bengal, India: Consequences and Policy Options

Every year, the Economics and Finance Department hosts the Henry George Program, named after an American economist and social reformer. The program consists of a fall lecture and a spring seminar. The spring event, which started in 1992, is organized around the theme of economic justice and deals with issues such as economic development, poverty, inequality, asset-ownership, and taxation.
Our this year's Spring speaker is Dilip Mookherjee of Boston University. He has been serving as Director of the Institute for Economic Development at BU since 1998. He is curently the President of the Bureau of Research in Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD). Dr Mookherjee is also a Fellow of the Econometric Society and recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.
